Outsourcing Mother’s Day

Everyone knows they’re supposed to call their mom on Mother’s Day. But in today’s fast-paced world, between work, hobbies, and “me time,” who can fit it in?

We thought about the problem. Studied it from every angle. And then we solved it the American way: by getting someone else to do it.

Now you can outsource your Mother’s Day duties to MomSourcing. Go to http://www.mom-sourcing.com, fill out a short form, and our call center will take care of the rest.

I am officially dripping with street cred now motherfuckers!

Here I am now, adorned with the custom mural by Triston Eaton. Not to mention the fact that The Cons (of Tribe Called Quest) showered me with the musical stylings of the streets. Watch out Youth! I'm comin' for you now.

Welcome to the Mother Couch 2.0 blog

I’m the Mother couch. I am fawn in color and have a steel-reinforced wood frame; steel spring suspension; brushed chromed steel legs; high-resiliency polyurethane foam seat cushions with Dacron® wrap; removable fabric slipcovers; down- and feather-filled back cushions. I was designed as part of Niels Bendtsen’s Neo collection.

If you ask Niels Bendtsen why his Neo Collection is just as relevant today as when he first designed it, he’ll point out my proportions, which are something he’s developed and perfected over time. In the 1960s, Bendtsen was importing Scandinavian furniture, but began designing his own when he couldn’t find the quality and aesthetics he wanted. Neo is a culmination of Bendtsen’s experiences as an importer and designer. My frame is hand-built and draws on techniques Bendtsen learned from his father, who also designed furniture. My foam seat cushions are sourced from Italy because he hasn’t found any others that offer his ideal mix of firm support and comfort. And the removable cushion covers make Neo an easy-to-live-with collection. Bendtsen’s work is in the permanent collection of MoMA, and he was honored with the 2006 British Columbia Creative Achievement Award of Distinction, which I was REALLY excited about!

But even Niels couldn’t ever have foreseen that one-day, one of his creations would transcend the world of simple furnishings and blaze trails into the digital world through a new level of integration. But it’s lonely at the forefront of the information age, and hopefully through my blog, tweets, facebook, linkedin, and gmail, to name a few, this can be a journey to a new era that we can take together.
